The Schubert Ensemble have been regular visitors to Bromsgrove over the years. For this visit they are not only bringing Huw Watkins’ new Piano Quartet, which they premiered at the 2012 Spitalfields Festival, but also the first of Enescu’s two Piano Quartets, which the Ensemble recently revived and recorded together for Chandos. The first Quartet is firmly within the large-scale Brahmsian late romantic tradition.
